HICKORYS TUX
Hickorys Tux is a 2007 AQHA Black Gelding aka Tux.
This is a good colt that has good pedigree and good, correct conformation.
Tux is bred and
built to be a jam up cow horse/cutting horse. He is currently
being used as one of our best ranch horses around here. He is not a
finished horse, but he is pretty far along for his age. Tux has been
exposed to it all! He gets rode in some real rough country, hunting
wild cattle in the brush, sorting, doctoring, dragging calves, etc.
He is learning to work a rope pretty good. He has so much try and so
much heart and he pulls really good by the horn. Tux is real light
in his face and sides and he has a nice smooth lope as well. He is plenty smart
and very willing. Tux is all business and we haven't had the time
to just stand around and pet him and desensitize him. Having said
that, he is not a horse for an inexperienced rider. The only thing
that he has ever done wrong is that every once in a while he will snort at
something random while riding out in the pasture. But he is real
honest about it. He has never tried to turn out from under us or run
off or buck or anything bad that like that. He just looks at what
ever it is and snorts and just keeps on walking by. Tux will travel
through, over, and around just about anything. He will willingly
walk, trot, or lope through water, jump over dead trees that are down,
travel through thick brush, etc. He is the type of horse that would
still travel 100 miles with a broke leg just to get you there because you
asked him to. That's what I mean by him having a big heart and a lot
of try. He learns very quickly too! We have roped a big ole
cow off of him and drug her in the trailer, and we have done the same
thing with a lot of big weaning calves off of Tux. We have had him in and out of the trailer
A LOT and he
loads good, backs out good, or will turn around if you need him too as
well. We have also had him in and out of the stock to bathe
him every time we ride him. He has had nothing but wet saddle pads.
Tux has a pretty good neck rein for his age, not to mention a really good
handle on him too. He is currently in a correction bit, and doing
very well in it, but will also ride in a hack as well. Tux has a bright, perky look to him and a HUGE soft eye.
He has a clean throat
latch, short back, good withers, nice slope to his shoulder, pastern and hip
and real good feet. He
also has a real pretty, thick, mane and tail. Tux has several half and full brothers
and sisters that are cutting horses, ranch horses, penning and sorting
horses, and roping horses. Right now he stands
14.3 hh and should probably be 15+ hh at least when he is fully matured.
Tux lives in the pasture and he is a very easy keeper. He is coal
black in the winter, but during the summer he bleaches out if left out in
the sun like we do. Oh and did I mention, he has really good strong
feet!! SOLD!!! THANKS, BOB IN
STEPHENVILLE, TX FOR BUYING ONE OF HIS BABIES HE RAISED BACK!!
