WATCH HUNGRY JACK
Watch Hungry Jack is a 2002 AQHA Bay Gelding aka Hungry.
Hungry is a real sweet horse that is very very gentle to be around and
very gentle to ride. I bet he would even be suitable for an
inexperienced rider because he is so calm to ride and easy to ride.
He has never offered to do anything wrong. The problem that we have
with him is that he just don't have a big enough motor for being a top
notch ranch horse. We have done all phases of ranch work off of him
and he will do everything and knows it all, but he does not pull good by
the horn. We have roped a lot of calves off of him out in the
pasture but he just doesn't want to really pull and drag like we like them
too. He is not a dead head and he is not numb sided or in his face,
but he is somewhat lazy. I think that is why he doesn't pull good by
the horn. Hungry moves out well and doesn't fight you or anything
like that, he's just not snappy like we like. He will walk, trot,
and lope willingly, just doesn't seem to have the speed and all that we
need. He would probably be pretty good in the sorting pen because he
doesn't get hot or excited real easy. He is very laid back.
Hungry has a good handle on him, good stop, reverse, and he neck reins
good too. You can even ride him around with just a string around his
neck and nothing on his head or in his mouth. He is physically sound
as far as I know. He has never been lame and we have ridden him
pretty hard. We have roped off of him out in the pasture, penned
wild cattle in the brush on him, gathered and sorted cattle, etc.
The only hole in him is that he is a very mild cribber. I will sell
him with his good leather collar. He does not crib at all with
the collar on. If he does not have it on, he will only do it when he
is stalled up and very board. He is NOT one of those horses that
would rather crib than eat. He prefers food over cribbing (even when
not wearing his collar). Again, he does not crib at all with the
collar on and he can wear it 24-7 all day every day. We only took it
off for the pics...other wise it has never been off of him. He does
not have any health issues and his teeth are in perfect shape. He
has not taught any of our other horses to crib either because we keep the
collar on him all of the time. There are surgeries out there to fix
it, but the collar is cheaper and it works on him. Hungry is not a
bossy horse and can get picked on if there is a very dominant horse in his
herd. He will stand up for him self too though so it is not a
problem. On Hungry's papers he has Skatty Joe (performer and
producer), Two Eyed Jack (all time leading sire, big time performer
and producer), Watch Joe Jack (big time performer and producer),
Doc Clabber (NCHA Money Earner and big time producer), and many more good ones.
Sorry the pics aren't great, but I just snapped them one day because I had
my camera with me when we were at his pasture. We didn't have any
tack with us, so Colton just got on him bare back with a halter. He
is so gentle! He does not require daily riding or anything like
that. He hasn't been rode in over a month and Colton just walks
right up to him out in the pasture and puts a halter on him and jumps on
him bare back with no issues. He's got good feet and we have had
shoes on him before, but he is currently bare foot because we are not
riding him much any more because we have so many youngsters that need the
riding more. SOLD!! THANKS CRISSY IN
HUCKABEE, TX!!
